In March 1700 Japan, samurai detective Sano Ichir-o faces escalating tensions within the shogun's court, prompting a perilous investigation into a mysterious skeleton at the shogun's behest. Joined by his wife, Reiko, they unravel long-buried secrets tied to a devastating fire linked to Sano's mother.
