In "Spinoza, Atheist," narrated by Robert Slade, Steven Nadler explores the provocative question of Baruch Spinoza's beliefs following his 1656 excommunication from the Portuguese-Jewish community. Known for his controversial "Theological-Political Treatise," Spinoza's views have often been interpreted as pantheistic, yet Nadler argues convincingly that Spinoza rejected traditional notions of divinity—asserting that God is synonymous with Nature and should be understood through reason and science. This engaging examination promises to reshape perceptions of Spinoza as a radical thinker whose ideas remain relevant today.
