Theatre troupe Westfield’s Men welcomes new actor Francis Quilter just as they are experiencing great success. However, trouble arises when Quilter’s father, Gerard, is accused of murder, prompting Nicholas Bracewell to seek proof of his innocence. As Bracewell navigates his loyalty to Francis and the tension it creates among the players, their quest for the truth leads them to an unexpected ally who might help clear the Quilter family’s name.
