The Old Success

When a French woman's body washes ashore along the Cornish coast, divisional commander Brian Macalvie is tasked with uncovering the mystery behind her death, particularly as the only footprints nearby belong to two young girls. Meanwhile, inspector Richard Jury is at a pub discussing past cases with retired detective Tom Brownell, who reveals that he once failed to solve a critical murder. As the investigation unfolds, Macalvie and Jury face two additional murders—a man on a Devon estate and a holy duster at Exeter Cathedral—leading them to consult Brownell, who believes all three cases are interconnected. Together, they embark on a quest to unravel this complex puzzle, hoping not to repeat any past mistakes.
