In Asheville, North Carolina, the Blackman & Robertson Detective Agency is struggling with a lack of clients when a mushroom hunt at a historic freed-slave commune leads to the discovery of a skeleton, hinting at a murder mystery. Their fortunes change when Marsha Montgomery seeks their help to investigate a burglary linked to a long-lost photograph from 1932, also associated with the commune.
