Following the emergence of new evidence, McCready is granted a retrial, prompting Detective Inspector Pat North to delve into the case. As she reinvestigates, her relationship with Detective Superintendent Mike Walker, who led the original inquiry, becomes strained when she begins to suspect he may have manipulated evidence. This leads her to question not only Walker's integrity but also the true identity of the real killer.
