In 1936 Manchester, as fascism threatens Europe, aspiring artist Rose navigates a tumultuous life with her conservative sister Ivy after their father's death. Relocating to the vibrant yet challenging neighborhood of Ancoats, Rose feels stifled by Ivy's control and yearns to embrace her artistic passions.
