The Lady of Misrule

In "The Lady Jane Grey," Elizabeth Tilney unexpectedly volunteers to escort the imprisoned nine-day queen, Lady Jane Grey, through the Tower of London. As the two sixteen-year-olds navigate each other's vastly different personalities—idealistic Protestant Jane and impulsive Catholic Elizabeth—they bond over their mutual annoyance with Jane's new husband, Guildford Dudley. However, as Jane's captivity deepens amidst the political turmoil of 1553, Elizabeth becomes entangled in their tumultuous relationship, forcing her to confront her loyalties as events spiral into danger.
