In the turbulent era of Prohibition, fisherman Eld makes a desperate decision to secure a better future for his family, turning from his traditional life to become a rumrunner. His plans quickly unravel as he finds himself embroiled in gang conflicts, resulting in catastrophic consequences for those he loves. With the impending end of Prohibition and the looming shadows of the Depression, Eld flees to Canada on a perilous journey, while his wife Maggie and their children seek refuge in a dubious sanctuary.
