The Night Portrait

This dual-timeline historical novel intertwines the lives of two women across 500 years, each connected through the creation and preservation of Leonardo da Vinci's iconic painting, Portrait of a Lady with an Ermine. In 1492 Milan, a 16-year-old beauty navigates life as the Duke’s mistress while becoming a subject of Da Vinci's ambitious work. Meanwhile, during World War II, a modest conservator risks everything to recover the masterpiece after it falls into Nazi hands, enlisting the help of an American soldier from the Monuments Men. As their stories unfold, both women confront personal and historical challenges surrounding the fate of the painting.
