In a world shaken by the recent death of the king of Narvonne, Trist has emerged as a central figure in the aftermath of victory over the daemon Adrammelech. Settling into his role as an Exarch alongside his wife, Clarisant, Trist faces new challenges as the rebellious Baron du Champs d'Or seeks to claim the throne with the help of Kimmerian mercenaries. With the threat of increasingly powerful daemons looming, Trist must strengthen himself to protect his home village of Camaret-à-Arden and stave off impending destruction.
