The Cry of Cicadas

In autumn 1941, former NYPD detective Max Byrns relocates to the serene California town of San Ignacio with his wife Elizabeth to recover from a life-altering injury. As they settle into their new life, tensions rise due to the looming threat of World War II and increasing anti-Japanese sentiment, especially concerning their friend Tadeo Suzuki, a local farmer. Amidst these challenges, Max is pulled back into detective work to investigate a murder and espionage activities, forcing him to confront both external dangers and his own personal struggles.
