My Cat Yugoslavia

Set in 1980s Yugoslavia, this audiobook follows a young Muslim girl whose arranged marriage quickly deteriorates amidst the backdrop of a country ravaged by war. Fleeing to Finland, she raises her son Bekim, who grapples with feelings of alienation as a gay man in an unwelcoming society. His sole companion in this struggle is an unconventional pet, a boa constrictor, which he allows to roam freely in his apartment.
