In 1969, MI6 agent Eloise Shepherd operates undercover in Soviet Russia, targeting nuclear physicist Stanislav Kalashnik to persuade him to defect. Seventeen years later, Kalashnik becomes the Chief Engineer at Chernobyl, facing increasing pressure and doubts about his loyalty as he raises safety concerns.
