In the Bronx of 1891, Virginia Loftin, the ambitious daughter in a family of four artistic sisters, dreams of becoming a celebrated novelist and marrying her first love, Charlie. When Charlie proposes to a wealthier woman, Ginny retreats into her writing, seeking to rewrite her own narrative. Her fortunes begin to change at a vibrant salon hosted by her brother's friend John Hopper, where she finds inspiration and romantic interest.
