The Republic of Birds

In Tsaretsvo, civil war fractures the human Tsardom from the Republic of Birds, where magic is forbidden and young witches disappear into a mysterious boarding school. Olga's sheltered life in the capital takes a turn when her family is exiled to an isolated shack near the Republic after her father's falling out with the tsarina. Unlike her perfect sister Mira, Olga feels at home in their new surroundings but fears her emerging magical abilities could expose her. When Mira is kidnapped by the birds, Olga must confront the dangers of the Republic, relying on her wits and newfound powers to rescue her sister.
