First Dawn

Launa O'Brian, a recent West Point graduate, faces an unprecedented challenge: to win a war that occurred 6,000 years prior by assisting farmers against the formidable Horse Raiders. Tasked with this mission, she is partnered with Captain Jack Walking Bear, who, despite being her superior, has different ideas on strategy. With the Army's untested time machine as their only means of intervention, Launa must navigate the complexities of command and survival in a tumultuous past where their mission's success hangs in the balance. As they arrive, they are immediately confronted by a band of raiders, questioning the reliability of their time travel and the insights of their anthropological guidance.
