At 16, James Tate Hill was diagnosed with Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy, resulting in legal blindness. Over the next 15 years, he cleverly masked his condition by faking eye contact and relying on his audio-only consumption of books, while navigating challenges in his personal and professional life. As he confronted a stagnant writing career and personal turmoil at 30, Hill began to question his approach to living in a sighted world and whether there was a more authentic path forward.
