Silver State Dreadnought

USS Nevada (BB-36), America's first modern battleship, marked a transformative era in naval warfare from its keel laying in 1912 to its sinking in 1948. As a revolutionary vessel, it featured innovations such as oil-fired propulsion, triple-gun main turrets, and all-or-nothing armor. Serving valiantly in both World Wars, Nevada protected convoys, participated in major landings like D-Day, and provided bombardment support during pivotal battles in the Pacific. Ultimately, after surviving atomic tests that rendered it too radioactive for scrapping, Nevada met its end in a final act of service during target practice off the coast of Oahu.
