Lum

In 1933 Shenandoah Valley, 33-year-old Lum, an intersex woman, navigates life as an outsider within her own family while assisting them with daily tasks. Secretly collecting postcards of unique individuals and fostering friendships with people like Smiley, an African-American furniture seller, and a recently released Melungeon man, she finds connections in her solitude. As her world shifts when a local banker falls ill and federal plans threaten her family's farm for a new highway, Lum confronts growing tensions and ultimately takes a courageous step towards independence.
