A Dream Play

A Dream Play by August Strindberg is a groundbreaking exploration of the human psyche, blending reality and dreams in a narrative that reflects the fluidity of consciousness. Written in 1901 and first staged in 1907, it follows Agnes, the daughter of the god Indra, as she descends to Earth to experience human suffering. The play unfolds through a series of disjointed vignettes, capturing the fragmented nature of existence and probing existential questions about suffering, meaning, and happiness. Through surreal imagery and rich symbolism, Strindberg invites the audience to engage deeply with these themes, challenging perceptions of reality and the complexities of the human condition.
