A Summer with the Hermit King

In the year 1888, sixteen-year-old Auggie Rose escapes the harsh life at an orphanage to live secluded on Presque Isle, where he witnesses a murder committed by 'the man with a limp.' Struggling to adapt to his new environment, Auggie forges friendships with a local hermit, Joe Root, and Maisy, a resort kitchen worker, as he begins to develop deeper feelings for her. However, as he learns that the murder is part of a larger scheme involving the peninsula, Auggie finds himself drawn into the investigation led by detective Will Weston, putting himself and his new friends in grave danger.
