Beautiful Jim Key

Beautiful Jim Key, an extraordinary horse, captured the American imagination from 1897 to 1912 with his remarkable intelligence and a repertoire of impressive skills, including reading, writing, and engaging in discussions. Trained by Dr. William Key, a former slave and self-taught veterinarian, the bond between them exemplified compassion and patience, steering clear of cruelty in their training methods. Together, they traveled the country, showcasing Jim's talents and influencing the emergence of the animal rights movement, supported by philanthropist Albert R. Rogers.
