Our History Has Always Been Contraband

Edited by Colin Kaepernick, Robin D. G. Kelley, and Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, Our History Has Always Been Contraband responds to ongoing threats against Black Studies, particularly focusing on the removal of content from an AP African American Studies course. This powerful collection features essential writings and influential authors like Frederick Douglass, Zora Neale Hurston, and Angela Y. Davis, covering a broad spectrum of disciplines including literature, political theory, and sociology. The volume also includes original essays by the editors and other contributors, highlighting both the historical context and strategies for advocacy in the face of these challenges.
