A Continuous Struggle

A Continuous Struggle is the first political biography of Martin Sostre, a pivotal yet overlooked figure in 20th-century American revolutionary movements. A Black Puerto Rican from East Harlem, Sostre became a politicized prisoner and jailhouse lawyer, advocating for the rights of incarcerated individuals while facing severe oppression, including a lengthy prison sentence following his involvement in the Buffalo rebellion of 1967. Throughout his nine years in prison, he evolved into a revolutionary anarchist and played a crucial role in the foundational work of contemporary Black anarchism. After his release, Sostre continued his activism as a tenant organizer and youth mentor, embodying the relentless fight against oppression across various fronts.
