PhD student Salinger Jacobs is unexpectedly whisked away from his California apartment and thrown into a high-stakes environment aboard a military plane to the Sahara Desert, where he must confront the perilous realities of the mysterious ZOO. With untrained scientists facing fatal dangers and Salinger himself lacking a PhD, he must quickly learn the ropes of survival, including how to handle a gun and understand the value of exotic plants. As he navigates this treacherous terrain, Salinger’s primary goal becomes staying alive long enough to escape the confines of his microwave popcorn diet.
