Set in Victorian-era Louisville, "The Home for Friendless Women" explores the lives of those residing in a reform institution aimed at transforming fallen women into devout mothers and wives. Ruth, a college student expelled after a sexual assault, views the Home as a temporary purgatory, while Belle, a queer sex worker, seeks refuge as she hunts for her missing lover. Meanwhile, Minnie, the founder's daughter, confronts her mother’s ideals and a hidden truth that could threaten the institution’s very foundation as she prepares for its silver anniversary party.
