The Church of the Holy Sepulchre

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, also known as the Church of the Resurrection, has stood in Jerusalem for nearly 2,000 years and is revered as the site of Jesus' crucifixion and burial, making it a significant pilgrimage destination for Christians. Built during St. Constantine’s era, it has been central to many pivotal councils that shaped Christian history and has witnessed the city’s tumultuous past, including repeated attacks and reconstructions under various rulers. Despite the end of persecution under Emperor Constantine in 313, tensions between Christians and pagans continued to influence the city’s religious landscape.
