The Beachcomber

In the second novel of The Island of Sylt trilogy by Ines Thorn, set in 1711, young Jordis fights to clear her family's name amidst the challenges of life on the island, particularly for women navigating a harsh and competitive world. Living with her grandmother and relying on beachcombing and fortune-telling, Jordis's friendship with the local minister's daughter, Inga, turns sour as they vie for the affections of a young blacksmith, Arjen. Under the scrutiny of a skeptical minister, Jordis must confront accusations of witchcraft while seeking to reclaim her reputation and true love.
