As a renaissance fair approaches the quiet college town of Farberville, Arkansas, local bookseller Claire Malloy is reluctantly pulled into the event's organization, despite her initial hesitation. However, the festivities take a sinister turn when one of the organizers is discovered dead in a burned house, leading to questions of whether it was an accident or something more nefarious.
