The Square Pegs

In "Some Americans Who Dared to Be Different," Irving Wallace chronicles the eccentric lives of nine unconventional individuals who defied societal norms. Each chapter introduces a unique character, such as Wilbur Glenn Voliva, a flat-Earther advocating for individualism, and Victoria Woodhull, a spirited presidential candidate and spiritualist. From the self-proclaimed Emperor Joshua Norton to the adventurous George Francis Train, these stories celebrate the pursuit of peculiar passions and the spirit of nonconformity that defined their extraordinary lives.
