In Everything in its Path, the catastrophic collapse of the St. Francis Dam in 1928 unfolds through the eyes of Kate, an archaeologist's daughter who uncovers alarming signs of a leak while excavating a Chumash Indian site. Alongside her narrative, the story of Singing Bird, a Chumash tribe member plagued by ominous dreams of water, reveals tensions within her community as she grapples with whether to heed her visions or submit to the skepticism of their leader, Lone Wolf. As the storm approaches, both girls face critical choices that intertwine their destinies in a struggle for survival against an impending disaster.
