Bridge Across the Sky

In this lyrical historical novel in verse, a Chinese teenager named Tai Go navigates the harsh realities of immigration to the United States alongside his family, only to face hostility and discrimination at the Angel Island Immigration Station. As they endure the dehumanizing conditions and interrogations fueled by the Chinese Exclusion Act, Tai Go finds solace in the poems etched into the barracks walls by fellow detainees and gains strength from emerging friendships and the fight for their rights. Through his journey, he confronts both external racism and his own internal struggles, ultimately striving to define his own American Dream.
