Dear America: Like the Willow Tree

In the Fall of 1918, eleven-year-old Lydia Pierce and her fourteen-year-old brother, Daniel, become orphans due to the devastating Spanish flu epidemic. Their grieving uncle moves them to a Shaker community in Maine, where the siblings are separated due to the community's strict gender divisions. As Lydia navigates her new life, she grapples with her independence and the challenges of adapting to the constraints imposed upon her.
