Coal River

Orphaned and broke at 19, Emma Malloy returns to her childhood home in Coal River, Pennsylvania, where she finds herself treated as a servant by her relatives. Amidst a community suffering under the burdens of a corrupt mine owner, Emma witnesses the plight of struggling miners and young breaker boys. Inspired by her memories and sense of justice, she secretly aids these families while forming an alliance with a passionate miner who helps her confront the harsh realities of their world.
