The Winter Guest

In January 1921, amid the turmoil of a civil war in Ireland, the decaying Kilcolgan House becomes the somber refuge for the Prendeville family, haunted by both specters of the past and a recent tragedy. When Maud Prendeville, the eldest daughter, is killed following an IRA ambush, the family is shattered, while the IRA insists she was not their intended target. Captain Tom Harkin, an IRA intelligence officer and Maud's former fiancé, is tasked with uncovering the truth behind her death, navigating the secrets of the gloomy household and the conflicts of a fractured community. As he investigates, Harkin grapples with his own memories and the eerie atmosphere surrounding Kilcolgan, racing against time to reveal hidden loyalties and the reality of Maud's fate.
