Marx for Cats

In "Marx for Cats," Leigh Claire La Berge creatively reinterprets the medieval bestiary, asserting that "all history is the history of cat struggle." By tracing feline representations through Western economic history—from feudalism to communism—La Berge reveals the deeper connections between cats and Marxist critique, highlighting their roles in discussions of economic struggle and liberatory potential. Engaging with the ecological crises of our time, she invites reflection on the relationships between humans and animals, framing class struggle as an interspecies collaboration.
