In 1957, nine African American students courageously integrated an all-white high school in Little Rock, Arkansas, defying the governor's opposition and causing a national uproar. A poignant photograph captured the moment when Elizabeth Eckford, one of the students, faced a hostile mob while attempting to enter Central High School alone. As the events unfolded, the tension between the students and the state escalated, culminating in the deployment of the National Guard to block their entry.
