Gods of the Steppe

In the summer of 1945, as the Allies celebrate victory in Europe, 12-year-old Petka finds excitement in the chaos surrounding him in his village of Razgulyaevka. With Japanese forces nearby and warfare looming, he battles not only the external threats but also the challenges of his everyday life, including bullies and his status as an outsider. Petka's adventurous spirit leads him to undertake daring escapades, from secretly raising a wolf to stowing away in shipments for the front lines, as he embraces life with unyielding enthusiasm.
