Strike of the Sailfish

"Strike of the Sailfish" by Stephen L. Moore recounts the gripping true story of the submarine USS Squalus, which sank during a training exercise in 1939, leading to a daring rescue by its twin, the USS Sculpin. After being salvaged and rebranded as the Sailfish, the submarine becomes embroiled in a perilous mission during World War II, targeting a Japanese convoy believed to carry aircraft carriers amidst a fierce typhoon. With a unique blend of official records and survivor accounts, Moore depicts the intense nine-hour duel that unfolds as the Sailfish crew and American POWs aboard the enemy ship fight for their survival in this riveting chapter of naval history.
