Extra Credit

Abby Carson, facing the possibility of repeating sixth grade due to her disinterest in schoolwork, embarks on an extra credit project to find a pen pal in Afghanistan. As her letters travel between Illinois and a small village, cultural obstacles emerge, including the village's view on gender and communication with Americans.
