Paradise Alley

During the turbulent times of the Civil War, a military draft ignites outrage among the impoverished citizens of New York City, particularly as wealthy individuals can buy exemptions for their sons. In the slum of Paradise Alley, three women—Deirdre Dolan O'Kane, Ruth Dove, and Maddy Boyle—navigate their fears and uncertainties in the face of impending chaos. Deirdre, grappling with her husband’s injury at Gettysburg, finds herself seeking solace from Ruth and Maddy, women she has previously looked down upon. Together, they confront the upheaval surrounding them, revealing the complexities of human connection amid societal strife.
