Hope's Path to Glory

In mid-19th century Alexandria, Virginia, a financially troubled slave-owning family sends their eldest son, Jason, to California to mine for gold and protect the family legacy. He recruits a cook, a laundress, and a hostler for the journey, including twelve-year-old Clementine, known as Hope. As they join a wagon train from Independence, Missouri, heading down the Emigrant Overland Trail, the enslaved individuals seize the opportunity to seek freedom and manifest their own destinies.
