Rangers and Sovereignty

In May 1874, Dan W. Roberts was commissioned as a second lieutenant in Company "D" of the Ranger Battalion, where he served for eight years. Throughout his tenure with the Texas Rangers, he was involved in protecting settlers, managing unrest, apprehending stagecoach robbers, and aiding the army in road construction. His experiences and observations during this period were later published in 1914.
