Grasshopper Jungle

In the quaint town of Ealing, Iowa, best friends Austin and Robby inadvertently unleash an insatiable and chaotic army of genetically modified, six-foot-tall praying mantises. "Grasshopper Jungle" is a humorous yet intense coming-of-age narrative that intertwines themes of teenage love, sexuality, and the struggles of small-town life in recession-era America. Celebrated for its originality and depth, Andrew Smith’s novel is a thought-provoking exploration of an apocalyptic scenario that challenges norms and invites controversy.
