In the arid backdrop of a forgotten desert town in 1978, 12-year-old Ares Ramirez grapples with adolescence while living in a trailer with his mother and mentally handicapped younger brother, Malcolm. As government planes buzz overhead and a mysterious floating body stirs Ares's imagination, he gets drawn into a web of violent fantasies. Tasked with protecting Malcolm in a world filled with distrust and judgment, Ares befriends a troubled older boy, leading him down a path where innocent play transforms into a harrowing reality that alters the course of his life.
