Highlander Ronan Maclaren, content as the laird of his clan and running the Maclaren Whisky Distillery, finds himself facing an unexpected marriage obligation. Meanwhile, Lady Imogen Kinley, determined to remain independent after her disillusioning experiences with men, actively works to repel potential suitors. When their parents intervene and a betrothal contract is signed, the two are thrust into a rivalry filled with disdain, each vowing to make the other back out. What begins as a contest of cleverness soon evolves into a deeper confrontation of their true desires.
