On the night of May 16, 1943, nineteen modified Lancaster bombers launched from RAF Scampton on a daring mission to destroy three key dams in Germany, essential for the Nazi war machine. Tasked with deploying a groundbreaking 9,000-pound bouncing bomb with pinpoint accuracy from just 60 feet above water, this perilous operation was assembled in under ten weeks. Led by visionary engineer Barnes Wallis, the mission faced numerous challenges yet would ultimately prove to be one of the most impactful bombing raids in history.
