In 1954 Los Angeles, veteran fighter pilot-turned-detective Augy Small grapples with the haunting aftermath of sentencing mass murderers, as he uncovers troubling mysteries surrounding their confessions and a missing body. His path intertwines with Katya Tyler, a mysterious Russian with a dangerous agenda, as they seek to dismantle a human trafficking network linked to Augy's traumatic past and a dark place known as The Lumbermill.
