In Lake Maracaibo, an extraterrestrial artifact triggers chaos beneath the ocean floor, prompting the U.S. military to assemble an international team of researchers to investigate a magnetic instability wreaking havoc on electronics. As the scientists explore the artifact, they discover a massive chamber housing a teleportation device, leading to mysterious comas among those who enter.
